Location Kulmbach

We are located in the center of Kulmbach, a small town with lots of atmosphere and a high quality of life. The historic old town defines the townscape with the imposing Plassenburg Castle and its almost 1000-year history above.

Despite the historic roots, Kulmbach is a technological center with a focus on the food industry, especially brewing, baking and spice processing. For several years, this industrial orientation has been scientifically reinforced by the Bayreuth University's Faculty of Life Sciences, which is based in Kulmbach and is dedicated to researching food, nutrition and health.

In terms of landscape, Kulmbach is fortunate to be located at the most picturesque juncture of the lovely Obermaintal, the Fichtelgebirge with its typical low mountain range character, offering winter sports facilities, and the extensive forest and hiking area of the Franconian Forest.

There are a variety of sports and leisure activities and many worthwhile excursion destinations in the region.

Kulmbach itself offers a range of museums and cultural events, from music and theater performances to cabaret and the nationally known beer festival, which is held every year at the beginning of August in the middle of the old town. The nearby cities in Upper Franconia, such as Bayreuth and Bamberg, offer additional attractive destinations.

Kulmbach belongs to the administrative district of Upper Franconia in Northern Bavaria. The city has about 30,000 inhabitants and has very good infrastructure. Here you will find all the essential aspects of daily life within a small area, which can mostly be easily reached on foot or by bike, but also by public transport. There is a wide range of schools and educational opportunities with several elementary schools, middle schools, two high schools, vocational schools, university institutes and adult education facilities. Childcare is also readily available. In Kulmbach, people take care of each other.
